Privacy Policy

ClassBrief holds a lot of small, personal details about your family's week. This page says plainly what the app keeps, why it keeps it, and what you can remove.
What ClassBrief stores
- Your account. The email address you signed up with, and the sign-in method you chose (password or Google). Authentication is handled by our platform provider โ your password is never visible to the app.
- Child profiles. Only what you type: a first name, and optionally a school, grade, activities and notes.
- What you send in. The text of a message you paste, or a screenshot you upload, so each item can point back to the original.
- What was pulled out of it. The item's title and summary, dates, times, locations, amounts, category, the child it belongs to, and any correction you made.
Why it is kept
Every field above exists to do one of four things: show your feed, keep your calendar and action queue accurate, build your daily and weekly digest, and measure where the extraction got things wrong so the correction rate can be tracked. Nothing is used for advertising.
Screenshots and forwarded messages
Screenshots are stored as private files with no public link. They open only for the account that uploaded them, through a short-lived signed link created when you open the item. Records are separated per account, so another parent using ClassBrief cannot read your items, your children or your screenshots.
How a message becomes an item
When you forward a message or upload a screenshot, its text (or the image) is sent to the AI service that reads it and returns the dates, amounts and child it thinks apply. The result is saved as an item you can correct or delete. The AI sees the message you chose to send, and nothing else from your account.
Children's information
Child profiles are created and controlled by you, the parent or guardian. Children do not have accounts and cannot sign in, and ClassBrief is not directed to children. Only add what you are comfortable storing โ a first name is enough for the app to work.
What ClassBrief does not do
- It does not sell or rent your information.
- It does not show ads or use advertising trackers.
- It does not contact your school, and your school cannot see your account.
- It does not share your items with other parents or with anyone outside the services needed to run it.
Who else is involved
ClassBrief runs on a hosting and database platform, uses an authentication provider for sign-in, and an AI service to read the messages you send in. Those providers process the data on our behalf to make the app work. Information is also disclosed where the law requires it.
Keeping and deleting
Items stay until you delete them or close your account. Settings has a delete-account option: it removes your items, your corrections, your child profiles and your sign-in, and the account cannot be recovered afterwards. Any single item, child profile or screenshot can be deleted on its own at any time.
Your choices
You can correct any extracted detail, mark an item done or dismissed, snooze it, delete it with its original message, and remove a child profile along with everything attached to it. Appearance and digest preferences are yours to change in Settings.
Changes to this policy
If what ClassBrief stores or how it is used changes, this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the updated policy.
